Moveman Double Helps Raise Spirits at Blackburn Night SpotWe are literally helping to raise the spirits at a recently opened Blackburn bar. We have installed a Titan heavy duty goods lift at Luminar Leisure’s Jumpin Jak’s, an American style theme bar. The new lift is used to transport beer barrels and crates of bottled drinks from a street level receiving area to the ground floor cellar. Similar in design to our popular Prestige disabled access platform lift, the Titan has the ability to fit where and whenever a traditional goods lift will not.
The Blackburn site was originally the town’s Mecca ballroom and subsequently a bingo hall. Whilst a major refurbishment was required, many of the original features, including the room’s impressive balcony have been retained. As well as the cellar, the goods lift also serves the first floor, where the bar is located. As the lift is accessed directly from the street, it is located behind a lockable weatherproof security door. The Titan is capable of transporting pay loads of up to 1500kg and in this instance has a total lift height of 4830mm. Available with a wide choice of platform sizes and door options - single entry, open through or adjacent entry, the Titan is configurable to suit a variety of goods only applications and building designs. As part of the same refurbishment we also installed a Prestige platform lift. This provides access for the less able to the balcony area, a travel height of 2775mm and ensures compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act. Bill Wood from Garnett and Hilton, the main contractors for the refurbishment programme, was happy to specify Movement Management to supply both the goods lift and the disabled access platform lift. “We have worked with Movement Management on numerous projects and have always had a good relationship with them.” He says. “Whilst the installation schedule was very tight, they were able to deliver and install both lifts in time for the club’s opening in early June. Part of the reason why this was possible is that both the Prestige and Titan are supplied as a totally self-contained unit, no separate area is required for the drive and motor assemblies and they have an integral shaft. Unlike traditional goods lifts, the Titan only requires a shallow pit of 200mm depth, which means that building works are kept to a minimum. Installation is, therefore, very straightforward and can be performed in a matter of days. Both the Titan and Prestige are CE marked which means that they conform to all relevant European safety standards and codes of practice. |
