the wheelchair lift company |
Wheelchair AccessIn the world we live in, wheelchair access continues to play an increasingly important role in how our society operates. In 1995 the Disability Discrimination Act was passed that aimed to eliminate problems of prejudice towards the disabled and physically impaired. In the act wheelchair access, which forms an important part of it, covers a broad range of places and situations where improvements should be made, the workplace being one of these. Employers were now required to alter existing buildings to make life for a wheelchair user more comfortable. 2004 saw amendments which furthered these laws, for example the installation of in a ramp to allow better wheelchair access and lowering door handles to make them easier to reach. Public venues must follow the same guidelines to improve wheelchair access. Previously in some places it was difficult to get to toilets and other facilities, now wheelchair access is an important feature in a building’s design plans. So wheelchair access is an ongoing process and essential for ensuring that wheelchair users get about easily and safely. At movemanSKG, we pride ourselves on offering top quality platform lifts, to ensure your organisation provides a high level of wheelchair access. We supply a wide selection of lifts to suit your requirements. The movemanSKG range is versatile and accounts for issues such as travel height, load capacity, power, platform size, the type of controls you want and whether you need an indoor or an outdoor model. Having installed and supplied over 1000 platform lifts, you can be sure our designs and products are tried and tested ways of improving wheelchair access. We offer four complimentary service visits during the first year of owning one of our platform lifts, helping you to maintain your new appliance and giving you peace of mind. We also supply a large range of accessories so you can personalise your lift by changing the colour, finish, or the landing doors. This ensures that your wheelchair access facilities will comply with the DDA act and helps to allow wheelchair users a comfortable time in your building. Recently we installed a new lift at a new cycle shop at the Marlow Leisure Park at Grafham Water. The DDA regulations meant that wheelchair access was required for wheelchair users to reach the first floor. A ramp was not appropriate in this case so it was decided to put a lift in. movemanSKG’s outstanding reputation meant that we were the first choice for this development. We installed a Companion Prestige model, which has a rated load of 400kg. It complies with all building regulations and is a self-contained model. Paul Archer, Managing Director of Rutland Cycling said, "movemanSKG offered us good advice about the type of platform lifts available and what was best for our requirements. They have many years of experience and good quality products, which is why we chose them as the lift supplier. We were very happy with the service provided by movemanSKG, and the lift, although only used by a small percentage of visitors, works very well." |
